Networking at a conference

Conferences are a great part of both expanding your knowledge and your social connections in the world of affiliate marketing: and they equally contribute to your eventual success. As we’re preparing for the upcoming conferences we’re going to this year, we decided to make a short list of the most important tips for networking:


  1. Do your homework. Make sure you come prepared and know the people you plan to meet and what they do. You don’t need to know every single detail about them, but some basic information about their work, the company they are a part of, and their mission would be useful. It’s not just a great way to keep the conversation going, but will also show your interest in the person.

  2. Plan your meetings beforehand. Make use of the event app and reach out to people before the conference so that you can structure your days productively. 

  3. Prepare business cards. Do not forget to include all the necessary info: your name, email address, phone number, company and position. And don’t forget about the business cards you’ll collect: sort through them once you get home and save the contacts.

  4. Set goals. It’s better if you know what you want to get out of the conversation/connection than just walk aimlessly talking to everyone. That doesn’t mean you can’t change your goals and go meet new people, but you need to have some sort of structure.
